LIVE! Technologies Integrates Sound Performance for Dublin Baptist Church

LIVE! Technologies of Columbus, Ohio, recently completed an audio upgrade for Dublin Baptist Church of Dublin, Ohio (dublinbaptist.com). The Systems Integration group from LIVE! Technologies worked closely with the A/V production team from the Dublin Baptist Church (DBC) to design and build a custom sound reinforcement solution for “Elevate,” DBC’s contemporary worship service.
Aided by the use of E.A.S.E. acoustic modeling software, the LIVE! Technologies Design and Engineering team compiled a pattern-controlled sound reinforcement system that can exceed 105dba in the congregation. The new system’s frequency response and available headroom support contemporary worship and high-energy youth concerts, while retaining the intelligibility and clarity of the spoken-word traditional worship services.

Electro-Voice’s new product line, EV Innovation Systems, was selected as the product line of spec for the high- and mid-frequency response. The EVH high-definition speaker enclosures were chosen as the heart of the speaker system. With the variety of patterns available, and the pattern control aspects of the horn-loaded enclosures, the LIVE! Technologies Design team found the proper “fit” for the 800-seat sanctuary.
The front down-fill coverage was supplied by the new EVU ultracompact series. Four Electro-Voice QRX 118 enclosures were chosen for the low-frequency reinforcement due to their compact size and resonant frequency. The QRX 118 boxes were built into the underside of the existing stage, and custom-vented. Electro-Voice ZX1 series enclosures were wall-mounted for choir “wash” monitoring. Electro-Voice EVID 8.2c speakers were added to DBC’s 70-volt narthex system to increase fidelity and floor coverage. The power for the main speaker system was handled by Crown, and the digital signal processing by BSS Audio.

LIVE! Technologies commissioned the system with a Yamaha M7CL 48 channel digital audio console and full digital audio snake operating at front-of-house. All of the digital snake runs were terminated to a custom patch panel off-stage that would allow for easy stage box repatching. An Aviom digital card was added to the Yamaha audio console to feed a 12-station Aviom in-ear monitoring system for the worship teams.
